DAMIAN TAYLOR: I've had the pleasure of using Martin's mic a number of times and it just sounds phenomenal. I wouldn't go so far as comparing it to anything else, you just go "Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!" when you listen to what it's recorded. You kinda want to dive into its sound and float around in it! I've talked about it in a couple of other threads, sorry I'm not too sure how to post links. But simply put - how does it sound? AMAZING!
I've used the NU-47 on Bjork's vocals for her album Vespertine, I recorded her voice on "Hidden Place" and one or two other tracks (check the credits as my memory is a bit hazy! We ran it through an Avalon VT-737SP which Guy Sigsworth owned and we used on our productions at the time. Most recently I used it on clavichord along with a contact mic and a Calrec Soundfield a few feet back, I put the NU-47 somewhere towards the bottom of the soundboard and a foot or two above. (I normally do the track of plugging one of my ears then maneuvering my head around an instrument until I find a sweet spot with my own ears, then put the mic in and tweak from there if need be).
